Keith McWalter joined Seabury Group in February 2011 as Senior Advisor, Investment Banking in the New York office .  Mr. McWalter is a specialist in arranging and negotiating asset-based financings and financial restructurings for transportation and industrial companies. He was a partner and shareholder in Babcock & Brown, an international financial advisory and asset management firm, where he served as legal counsel and in client management and executive roles for 22 years.

Mr. McWalter has represented, among other Fortune 500 clients, Northwest Airlines in arranging over $1 billion in aircraft financings, BNSF Railway Company in arranging over $1 billion in rail car and locomotive financings, and Amtrak in arranging over $1 billion in passenger car and locomotive financings. With a background in the legal aspects of commercial transactions and taxation, he has specialized in tax-based leveraged and cross-border leasing. More recently he has been extensively involved in debt restructurings and asset placement for Babcock & Brown’s rail operating lease business platform.

Prior to joining Babcock & Brown, Mr. McWalter served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel to Matrix Leasing International in San Francisco and was a member of the tax department of the law firm of Dewey Ballantine (now Dewey & LeBoeuf) in New York. A frequent lecturer and panel member at industry and professional seminars, he is a Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate of Denison University and received his law degree with honors from the Columbia University School of Law. He is a member of the New York, California, and Washington, D.C. bars.
