Omar Mirza is a Vice President in Seabury's Investment Banking and Financial Restructuring team. With over 10 years experience in Investment Banking, Restructuring and Distressed Debt, he also practiced as an Attorney for 2 years in Corporate Law, Restructuring and Distressed Debt. Mr Mirza is part of Seabury's rapidly growing Investment Banking and Financial Restructuring practice with a focus outside of the firm's traditional Aviation and Aerospace sectors.
Mr Mirza has acted in almost all aspects of distressed investing (buy and sell sides) and / or restructuring advisory (for debtors and creditors) across such sectors as financial services, funds management, structured finance, real estate, retail, manufacturing, transportation, viticulture and government. His global work experience includes the US, Germany, UK, Israel, Japan and Australia. While in the Restructuring and Special Situations Group at KPMG, he led the development of KPMG's global distressed debt intellectual property and infrastructure, based on an investment banking model. The project was sponsored by KPMG Europe LLP Chairman's office at the height of the global financial crisis and subsequently adopted by the firm as their best practice.
Mr Mirza is admitted to the Bar in the High Court and Federal Court of Australia, and Supreme Court of Victoria. He holds a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce from Flinders University and is currently completing a Masters of Applied Finance at Macquarie University having taken subjects in Melbourne, Sydney and Tokyo. He is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Adviser in Australia and has successfully completed the Restructuring and Distressed Valuation modeling boot camp in Chicago. He is a FINRA representative registered with Series 7, 63 and 79.
Mr Mirza sits on the TMA Young Professionals Committee (New York Chapter) and is a National Committee Member for the TMA US annual conference.
