Seabury Announces Board of Advisors for Aviation & Aerospace Practice
Former Aviation/Aerospace Senior Executives to Provide Expertise
NEW YORK, June 10, 2009 – Seabury Aviation & Aerospace LLC today announced that it has formed a Board of Advisors to provide Seabury and its investment bankers, top-tier strategy consultants and technical experts with expertise on macro trends in the aviation and aerospace industries. Seabury’s Aviation & Aerospace Board of Advisors is composed of:
- Geoff Dixon, former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Qantas Airways Limited;
- Bryan Moss, President Emeritus, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation;
- Sir Ralph Robins, former Executive Chairman, Rolls-Royce plc; and
- Douglas M. Steenland, former Chief Executive Officer, Northwest Airlines.

Geoff Dixon stepped down in November 2008 after eight years as Managing Director and Chief Executive of Qantas Airways Limited. Mr. Dixon joined Qantas in 1994, and served in various senior executive positions as well as on its Board. Before joining Qantas Mr. Dixon was Director of Marketing and Industry Sales at Ansett Australia Airlines and General Manager Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Australian Airlines. Prior to his career in the airline industry, Mr. Dixon worked for an arm of the Australian Government Overseas Service (The Australian Information Service) in Australia and on posting for 11 years to the Australian Missions in The Hague, New York and San Francisco. Mr. Dixon currently sits on the Boards of publicly listed Australian companies and is Chairman of the Queensland (Australia) Major Events Corporation and Deputy Chairman of Tourism Australia.
Bryan Moss was named President Emeritus of Gulfstream Aerospace in 2007, following a four-year appointment as President of the company, and Executive Vice President, Aerospace Group, General Dynamics Corporation. He had served as Vice Chairman of Gulfstream since he joined the company in 1995. Prior to Gulfstream, Mr. Moss was President of the Business Aircraft Division of Bombardier Aerospace Group, having served as President of the Challenger Division, Canadair Group of Bombardier Inc. He began his aerospace career with the Lockheed-Georgia Company. Mr. Moss has served on the U.S.-Japan Business Council, the U.S.-China Business Council, and the U.S.-Hong Kong Business Council. He currently serves on the Board of RTI International Metals Inc. A former member of the Associate Member Advisory Council of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), he is a past Chairman of the Council. He received the NBAA’s Meritorious Service Award, the association's highest accolade for service and contributions to the business aviation industry.
Sir Ralph Robins spent his entire career with Rolls-Royce, beginning in 1955 in Engineering and Project Management, and retiring as Executive Chairman in 2003, after serving in that capacity for more than 10 years. His current Board and Advisory Board roles include Honorary Chairman, Freestream Aircraft; Chairman, Kingfisher Airlines Advisory Board; Chairman, Alter Technology Group; and Chairman, Carlton Financial Services Advisory Board. He is the former Chairman of the Defence Industries Council and former President of The Society of British Aerospace Companies. He received the Honours Award of Knight Bachelor in 1988, and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Douglas M. Steenland was Chief Executive Officer of Northwest from 2004-2008, leading the company in the completion of its merger with Delta Air Lines, Inc. in 2008. Mr. Steenland joined Northwest in 1991 and held a variety of senior executive positions, including President; Chairman, NWA Cargo; Executive Vice President; Chief Corporate Officer; and Senior Vice President General Counsel. Prior to joining Northwest, Mr. Steenland was a partner in a Washington, D.C. law firm that is now part of DLA Piper. Before that he was an attorney in the U.S. Department of Transportation. He is a member of Delta’s Board of Directors and served as Chairman of the Board of the Air Transport Association in 2008 and as a member of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) board from 2005–2008.
