David Turnbull joined Seabury Aviation & Aerospace as Chairman of Seabury Asia in November 2008. Mr. Turnbull has been Chairman of Pacific Basin Shipping Limited since January 2008 and became Executive Chairman in July 2008. He was with the Swire Group for 30 years, where he was the immediate past Chairman of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., Swire Pacific Ltd. and Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Ltd. In October 2009, Mr Turnbull was appointed an independent Non-Executive Director of Sands China Ltd., a publicly listed company in Hong Kong.
Mr. Turnbull has been an independent Non-Executive Director of Green Dragon Gas Limited, a company listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, since July 2006.
Mr. Turnbull graduated from Cambridge University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts (subsequently Master of Arts) degree with Honors in Economics. He joined the Swire Group the same year and held a variety of senior management positions with international responsibilities covering aviation, shipping and property during his 30 years with the company.
He was appointed a director of Cathay Pacific in 1994 and took up the positions of Deputy Managing Director in 1994, Managing Director in 1996 and Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive in 1998 before his appointment to Chairman in January 2005.
He also served as a Non-Executive Director of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) (January 2005 – December 2005), Hysan Development Co Ltd (May 2005 – Jan 2006) and Air China Ltd (May 2005 – December 2005).
